Relaxation through mind-control disciplines:
Relaxation through mind-control disciplines such as meditation, yoga, taiqi, and qigong, is very valuable to cancer patients. The patient's chances of survival and quality of life increase when mind-control disciplines come into play and are systematically integrated into the patient's comprehensive treatment.
Recent, well conducted studies have demonstrated the validity of those disciplines for improving the quality of life, positively influencing treatment responses, and improving survival rates. Those modalities are strongly recommended and available at well known medical institutions such as MD Anderson, in Houston, Texas; Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in New York; and many others.
Meditation, yoga, taiqi, qigong, and other forms of mind-control and progressive muscle relaxation, have increased in popularity. But, to some extend, the potential from those modalities remains undervalued. Practicing relaxation through mind-control disciplines, along with cancer treatment, can be crucial for better outcomes.
It is devastating to hear the words, "you have cancer". Frequently the patient requires psychological and or spiritual support to cope with the unexpected diagnosis and through the struggle with the illness. There are organizations of volunteers and survivors that provide much needed emotional support. But the patient can also benefit from relaxation through mind-control disciplines. It can be a very good tool that the patient can use for self-help and psychological support.
